One time Head Coach of the Owen Sound Attack, Frank Carnevale, led RT Bad Nauheim to a German Oberliga championship in 2012-13. The team has been promoted to the 2.Bundesliga for the 2013-14 season. Carnevale is bring his son along for the ride. Along with the Taylor Carnevale, there is currently one other Ontario Hockey League grad on the roster for the upcoming season.
Carnevale played five years in the OHL from 2007-08 to 2011-12 with five different teams. Taylor was originally a second round pick of the Plymouth Whalers at the 2007 OHL Priority Selection, 30th overall. He got his start in the league with the Whalers but also spent time with the Oshawa Generals, Barrie Colts, Windsor Spitfires and Sarnia Sting.
His most high profile trade came in January, 2011 when he was traded from the Colts to the Spitfires in exchange for Eric Locke and Josh Malecki. After being released by the Sting 32 games into the 2011-12 season, Carnevale failed to become a member of the fables six OHL team club and signed with the Shawinigan Cataractes of the QMJHL. He played ten games with Shawinigan before ending his junior career.
This past season, 2012-13, Carnevale played just five games with the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL and was released by the club in March. Taylor has signed a one year deal with RT Bad Nauheim through the end of the 2013-14 season.
Pinizzotto spent two years in the Ontario Hockey League, 1997-98 and 1998-99. In his first year, Jason appeared in just 24 games with the Barrie Colts. In his second year, he played 64 games for the Toronto Majors. After taking a step down to the OPJHL, Pinizzotto ripped apart the league in 2000-01, with the Couchiching Terriers. Over 49 regular season games, Pinizzotto led the league with 140 points on 54 goals and 86 assists.
Jason spent the following four years, 2001-02 to 2004-05, with York University in the OUA. He has played in Germany since the 2005-06 season, mostly in the 2.Bundesliga. However, he did see action in the elite Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) in 2007-08 and 2008-09.
Pinizzotto has been with the Schwenninger Wild Wings since 2009-10. Over his career to date in the 2.Bundesliga, Jason has played 264 regular season games, scoring 139 goals and assisting on 133 for 272 points.
Frank never played in the OHL but he was head coach of the Owen Sound Attack for the 2001-02 season. He is entering his second year as head coach of RT Bad Nauheim in this go-around. He also coached the team back in 1997-98 and 1998-99.
RT Bad Nauheim
Rote Teufel Bad Nauheim has existed since 2004-05. The franchise first started out in tier 4 hockey in Germany. As mentioned, they won the Oberliga championship in 2012-13 and were promoted to the 2.Bundesliga for the 2013-14 season. Rote Teufel plays home games at the 4,500 seat Colonel Knight Stadion, a venue built in 1946. The city has a population of 32,000 and is located a short 35 kilometres north of Frankfurt.
