The Nürnberg Ice Tigers have signed on Platil for the rest of the season and he should be playing in Germany’s Deutsche Eishockey Liga by the weekend.

Platil played three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League from 2000-01 to 2002-03, all with the Barrie Colts. andrew ianiero bakerfield condors echl hockeyAndrew Ianiero has just finished his eighth straight season in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) and his fifth straight and sixth overall with the Bakersfield Condors. Ianiero is currently on Bakersfield’s season ending roster and starting today can accept a qualifying offer from the team to stay on for another season.

Ianiero played four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League from 1998-99 to 2001-02, all with the Kingston Frontenacs. Andrew provided the Frontenacs with steady offense over his four seasons with 20+ goals each season and 220 points in 258 overall regular season OHL games. In 1999-00, Andrew tied the team record for most short goals in a single game with two. He was the last Kingston Frontenac to accomplish this feat.

Andrew was drafted by the Ottawa Senators in the fifth round of the 1999 NHL draft, 154th overall. Previous to his stay with the Bakersfield Condors, Ianiero played with the ECHL’s Dayton Bombers, Augusta Lynx, Charlotte Checkers and Texas Wildcatters.

By ECHL standards, Andrew’s is a very lengthy stay with the Condors. According to the Bakersfield Condors official website, he is second all-time on the team in total games played. He is only the 28th player in ECHL history to play 500+ games. He is the Condors all-time ironman with a consecutive games played streak that lasted 215 games. He is the Condors all-time play-off points leader.

Andrew Ianiero is a fan favourite in Bakersfield and hopefully the team will give him a chance to stay on for another season. We’ll be watching the news today to find out. If anyone catches the news before I do, please add the info to the comments of this post!

Check out Andrew Ianiero’s profile page on the Bakersfield Condors official website.
