Scott Timmins: 3 Time OHL Champion To Play With Dornbirn Bulldogs (EBEL)

scott timmins florida panthers hockey cardOntario Hockey League grad Scott Timmins has signed with Dornbirner EC in the Austria based Erste Bank Eishockey Liga (EBEL) for 2017-18. Timmins joins fellow OHL alumni Michael Caruso and Jamie Arniel, along with head coach Dave MacQueen. Scott played 2016-17 with the Straubing Tigers in Germany’s DEL.

Scott Timmins

Scott Timmins played four years in the OHL from 2006-07 to 2009-10 with the Kitchener Rangers and Windsor Spitfires. Timmins was drafted by the Rangers in the fifth round of the 2005 OHL Priority Selection, 98th overall. He was traded to the Spitfires on January 7, 2009 with Ben Shutron and Josh Unice in exchange for Brandon Maxwell, Jacob Lalonde and three draft picks.



Over his four years, Scott scored 84 goals and assisted on 79 for 163 points over 226 regular season games. In the playoffs, he added 46 points in 59 games. In his final three seasons, Timmins played for the OHL champions, 2007-08 with Kitchener, along with 2008-09 and 2009-10 with Windsor.

The Florida Panthers selected Timmins in the sixth round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, 165th overall. Since 2010-11, he has played pro hockey in the NHL, AHL and Germany’s DEL. Scott’s National Hockey League experience consists of 24 regular season games with the Panthers between 2010-11 and 2012-13.

This past season, 2016-17, Scott scored 12 goals and assisted on 15 for 27 points over 46 regular season games with the Straubing Tigers in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). He played a single playoff game, scoring a goal and assisted on another.

Dornbirner EC

The Dornbirn Bulldogs were promoted to the EBEL for the 2012-13 season and have yet to win a playoff series in five years since. In 2016-17, Dornbirn finished ninth in the 12 team league and did not qualify for the post season. Home games are played at the Messestadion in Dornbirn, Austria, a 4,270 seat venue that opened in 2003.

Head coach Dave MacQueen played in the OHL, along with a lengthy coaching career in the league. Michael Caruso and Jamie Arniel are also grads of the Ontario Hockey League. MacQueen played three years from 1976-77 to 1978-79 with the Ottawa 67’s and Sudbury Wolves. He went on to coach the Peterborough Petes from 1993-94 to 1995-96, the Erie Otters from 1999-00 to 2005-06 and the Sarnia Sting from 2006-07 to 2010-11.

Michael Caruso played four years in the Ontario Hockey League from 2004-05 to 2007-08 with the Guelph Storm. He is starting his third season with Dornbirn. Jamie Arniel played four years in the OHL from 2005-06 to 2008-09 with the Guelph Storm and Sarnia Sting. He has played for the Bulldogs since 2013-14.
