Rob Zepp, outstanding goaltender for the Plymouth Whalers from 1998-99 to 2000-01, is in his third season between the pipes with Eisbaren Berlin (Berlin Polar Bears) of Germany’s DEL. His profile page on the team’s official website can be found here.
In 1999-00 and again in 2000-01, Zepp shared the Dave Pinkney Trophy with Bill Ruggiero (99-00) and Paul Drew (00-01) with Zepp doing the bulk of the work. The Dave Pinkney Trophy is awarded to the team with the best overall Goals Against Average. Both those seasons, the Whalers reached the OHL finals but were on the wrong side of the championship both times.
Zepp, throughout his career, has consistantly had a save percentage above .900 and a goals against average well below 3.00. He saw action in the ECHL, AHL and Finland’s elite league before ending up in Germany.
