Luigi Calce played three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Owen Sound Platers from 1991-92 to 1993-94. Ofter a year in the OPJHL and a year in Italy, Luigi has been playing in Germany since 1996-97 season.
This season was Luigi’s 4th with Heilbronner Falken (Falcons) and the third with the Oberliga 2 version of the club. He finished up the regular season tied for seventh in league scoring with teammate P.J. Fenton, each accumulating 63 points, Luigi in 52 games and P.J. in 51.
Heilbronner lost out in the league’s quarter finals, 3 games to 1 to EVR Tower Stars. During the regular season they were 6th in the 14 team league.
Calce has played for 7 different organizations in Germany, but by far the coolest named team and the one he produced the most points for, was the Ratingen Ice Aliens. He played for the Ice Aliens for 3 seasons from 1999-00 to 2001-02. He produced 224 points in just 135 games over the 3 years.
Heilbronn is a city with a population of around 120,000. Located in the wine region of southwest Germany, the closest major centre is Stuttgart. The team plays out of the 4000 seat Knorr Arena.
