4 Ontario Hockey League Grads Lead Klagenfurter To First Place

The 2010-11 Erste Bank Eishockey Liga regular season in over and the playoffs have begun. Klagenfurter AC found themselves at the top of the Austrian elite league, ten points ahead of the next team. Klagenfurter finished with 78 points over the 54 game schedule. Klagenfurter had the help of four Ontario Hockey League grads.Andy Chiodo had the second best goals against average over his first season with Klagenfurter. Chiodo played three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League from 2000-01 to 2002-03, all with the Toronto St. Michael’s Majors. Andy was taken in the sixth round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Islanders, 166th overall. He was put back into the pool for the 2003 draft and was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the seventh round, 199th overall. Chiodo played eight games for the Penguins during the 2003-04 season.
Sean Brown played three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League from 1993-94 to 1995-96. He played with the Belleville Bulls until midway through his final season when was traded to the Sarnia Sting. Sean was a first round pick of the Boston Bruins in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft, 21st overall. Brown played 437 NHL games with the Edmonton Oilers, Bruins, New Jersey Devils and Vancouver Canucks. This is Sean’s third season with Klagenfurter.
Kirk Furey played in the Ontario Hockey League over the same three year span as Sean Brown. Furey played exclusively with the Owen Sound Platers. Kirk went undrafted in the NHL and chose the Canadian university system. He is in his fourth year with Klagenfurter. Furey was the team’s top point getter over the regular season and was 24th in the EBEL.

Mike Craig
played three seasons with the Oshawa Generals from 1987-88 to 1989-90. Craig was a second round pick of the Minnesota North Stars in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft, 28th overall. Mike played 423 games in the NHL with Minnesota, Dallas Stars, Toronto Maple Leafs and San Jose Sharks. Currently on the injured reserve, Craig is in his eighth year in the EBEL and his fourth with Klagenfurter. Despite missing several games due to injury this season, Mike still finished fourth in league scoring.
