Kalamazoo Wings Home To Three Rookie OHL Grads

kalamazoo wings east coast hockey league echl logoThe Kalamazoo Wings of the East Coast Hockey League have the fortune of having three first year players on the roster that are graduates of the Ontario Hockey League. All three ECHL rookies played at least a portion of their OHL careers with the London Knights.

Corey Syvret, younger brother of Danny Syvret, played five seasons in the Ontario Hockey League from 2005-06 to 2009-10. He began his career with London the year after his brother graduated. Midway through his second season, Syvret was moved to the Guelph Storm where he finished out his OHL career. Corey was a sixth round pick of the Florida Panthers in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, 181st overall.

Steven Tarasuk played four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League from 2006-07 to 2009-10. Tarasuk began his OHL career with the Kitchener Rangers and moved to the London Knights midway through the 2007-08 season. Tarasuk represented Kalamazoo at the 2011 ECHL All-Star game.

Justin Taylor played for the London Knights from 2006-07 to 2009-10, wearing the ‘C’ in his final season.  Taylor was a sixth round pick of the Washington Capitals in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, 180th overall. After starting the season with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL, Taylor in contributing over a point per game since being sent down to the Wings.
