Back to School Mondays: Guelph Gryphons

guelph gryphons oua hockey logoWell over half the roster of the OUA’s Guelph Gryphons played in the Ontario Hockey League. There are currently 13 OHL grads on the team with an additional one, Cody St. Jacques, who started the season with the Gryphons before returning to the Brampton Battalion as an overage goalie. There are four players who played a portion of their OHL careers with the Guelph Storm.

Guelph sits in sixth place in the OUA’s tight Western Conference and 12th in the 19 team league. The Gryphons are currently in a bundle of four teams with the same numbers of points and there are three teams with just one more point.

Matt Lyall – Matt played five seasons in the Ontario Hockey League from 2004-05 to 2008-09. Lyall played for the Guelph Storm and the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

Justin Gvora – Justin played just one season, 2005-06, with the Mississauga IceDogs.

Andrew Merrett – Andrew played five seasons in the Ontario Hockey League from 2005-06 to 2009-10. Merrett played for the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors, Niagara IceDogs, Brampton Battalion and Ottawa 67’s.

Thomas Kiriakou – Thomas played five seasons with the Ottawa 67’s from 2004-05 to 2008-09.

Geoff Guimond – Geoff played the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons with the Sudbury Wolves.

Shane Kinsella – Shane played 2009-10 with the Brampton Battalion.

Kris Belan – Kris played three years in the Ontario Hockey League from 2004-05 to 2006-07, split between the London Knights and Oshawa Generals.

Ken Peroff – Ken played four seasons with the Brampton Battalion from 2006-07 to 2009-10.

Nathan Martine – Nathan played five seasons in the Ontario Hockey League from 2004-05 to 2008-09. Martine played for the Barrie Colts, Mississauga Majors, London Knights and Guelph Storm.

Patrick Campbell – Patrick played the 2005-06 season with the Ottawa 67’s.

Mark Pawlowski – Mark played three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League from 2005-06 to 2007-08, split between the Peterborough Petes and Owen Sound Attack.

Timothy Priamo – Priamo played four seasons in the OHL from 2005-06 to 2008-09 split between the Saginaw Spirit and the Guelph Storm.

Andrew Loverock – Andrew played five seasons between the pipes in the OHL from 2005-06 to 2009-10. His time was split between Mississauga and Sudbury.
