Centennial Alumni Playing in Finland for the Blues

Gabriel Spilar played for the North Bay Centennials of the Ontario Hockey League during the 1998-99 season. He played just 38 regular season games as well as all four of the team’s playoff games as they were swept in the first round by the Ottawa 67′s.The Slovakia native returned to his homeland after the OHL and played in either Slovakia or the Czech Republic up until the end of the 2007-08 season. 2008-09 saw Spilar test Russia’s KHL with Astana Barys. This season, he moved on to Finland to play for the Espoo Blues.
The Blues finished 8th in the 14 team SM Liiga this seasonĀ and lost in the preliminary round of the playoffs.
