Dan Hinote had a respectable 503 game NHL career from 1999-00 to 2008-09. The Oshawa General alumnus moved on to play in Sweden for the 2009-10 season. MODO was the team that took him in during the 2004-05 NHL strike season and they were the ones that took him back this season.Dan was an Oshawa General for the 1996-97 and 1997-98 seasons, although his final season was split between the Generals and the AHL’s Hershey Bears. In his first season, Oshawa was play-off champions but would not find success at the Memorial Cup.
Dan played with the Colorado Avalanche, the team he was drafted by, from 1999-00 to 2005-06. His time in Denver was highlighted by a Stanley Cup victory in 2001.
Hinote played his final three seasons in the NHL with the St. Louis Blues before heading over to Sweden. MODO, unfortunately, finished 9th in the 12 team league during regular season play and did not qualify for the playoffs.

Two Guelph Storm Alumni who played together on the Ontario Hockey League team for the 1998-99 and 1999-00 seasons, are now playing in the Swedish Elite League.
Eric Beaudoin played for the Storm from 1997-98 to 1999-00. For his final two seasons, he averaged over a point per game. He is currently the captain of Rögle Ängelholm in the SEL, a team that finished dead last in the 12 team league this season. This is Eric’s fifth season in the SEL. Although a Tampa Bay Lightning draft pick in 1998, Beaudoin played his short NHL career with cross-state rivals, Florida Panthers. He totalled 53 games in the NHL before heading to Europe. His first season in Europe saw him bounce from Great Britain to two teams in Finland before landing in Sweden.Eric Beaudoin’s profile page on Rögle Ängelholm’s official website can be found here.
Kent McDonell played with the Storm from 1996-97 to 1999-00. He too was over a point per game in his final two seasons with the Storm. Kent is in his third season in the SEL and his first with Färjestad BK. The team finished fifth in the 12 team league during the regular season. McDonell was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings, but played all 32 of his NHL games with the Columbus Blue Jackets. To view Kent McDonell’s profile on the Färjestad BK’s official website, go to the site and click on ‘Spelarna’ in the top toolbar. Mike Zigomanis Finds His Way To Sweden
Filed under SwedenMar 18
Former Kingston Frontenac, Mike Zigomanis, started out the 2009-10 season with the Toronto Marlies of the AHL, but found his way to Sweden only 7 games into the season. Zigomanis played his Ontario Hockey League career entirely with the Kingston Frontenacs from 1997-98 to 2000-01.Zigomanis was the Frontenacs leading scorer for his final two season and hit the 40 goal plateau in both those seasons. His point total over his four year OHL career was 330. His 94 points in 1999-00 were good enough to place him 5th in league scoring. In the same season, he was awarded the William Hanley Trophy for most sportsmanlike player.
Mike is currently playing for Djurgårdens IF in the Swedish Elite League. The team has just entered the playoffs after finishing the regular season 2nd in the 12 team league.
A Carolina Hurricanes draft pick, Mike has played 189 regular season NHL games with Carolina, St. Louis, Phoenix and, most recently, Pittsburgh.
